Apple had made another splash announcement with its new Mac Studio desktop, the first new Mac form factor it has introduced in many years, and simultaneously introducing the new M1 Ultra chip which fuses two M1 Max chips together for the system to recognise as one super-charged chip. With Apple course-correcting back to the desires of the Pro community, and notwithstanding the impressive achievements of the M1 line and Apple Silicon in general, has the Apple product line become too diverse and confusing? Steve and Ben discuss the announcement of the new Mac Studio, and they also discuss Vimeo’s recent announcement of increasing charges for high-bandwidth users, the startling first test image from the James Webb Telescope, Microsoft’s confounding play to introduce ads in to Windows File Explorer, as well as Ben’s latest iPhone camera tests and post-production workflow on the iPad Pro.
