The referendum held in the UK which asked its citizens to leave or remain in the European Union generated a result that caused shockwaves around the world with the significant political and economic consequences of the successful leave vote still to be realised. Brexit, as it has become known for the benefit of Twitter users, was a political roll of the dice for British Prime Minster David Cameron, and he has come out on the losing side.
