With news of debris from a left over Chinese rocket making an uncontrolled re-entry in to the Earth’s atmosphere and Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully landing one of their re-usable rockets for the first time, the spotlight has shone back on to the race to space in the new century, with a focus on staying out in space by both public and private entities alike, a far cry from last century’s cold war space race whose goal was to compete to simply get in to space in the first place. Steve and Ben discuss the new era’s race to space and how space travel and colonisation may very well be routine by the end of this century.
